In a major breakthrough, Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Crime Investigation Department led by Dy.SP (Crime) busted a fake marksheet racket and arrested three persons.

Run by a gang of IT professionals based in Assam, the racket was providing fake marksheets and other educational certificates of HSLC and HSSLC for students in Nagaland.
According to SP (Crime) and PRO, the SIT apprehended three persons Mohbubur Rashid Choudhury alias Manoj Das, Rahul Sen alias Rajat Yadav and Jinna Razzakul Alom alias Mitul Alom from various locations in Assam after a month-long reconnaissance and surveillance. While prime accused Mohbubur was arrested from Guwahati, the other two were arrested from Kokrajhar.
In the successful operation under the supervision of DIG (CID) and SP (crime), the SIT along with cyber cell of PHQ and cyber forensic lab (CFL) Chumukedima conducted simultaneous raids in Beltola and Kokrajhar and recovered various incriminating documents and evidences like fake marksheets, seals of high ranking officials of Nagaland Board of Secondary Education, cash, laptops and various electronic equipment used in producing fake marksheets and certificates.
The gang operated under the brand of ‘Career Today Nagaland & Edumart Naga’ and the accused impersonated themselves as directors and executives of the fake career and placement consultancy and would convince institutes in different parts of the country with false promise of providing students for admission. They would then submit forged documents to the institutes and extract huge sums of money from them on the pretext of travelling and other logistic requirements.
The case came to light when the matter was reported to PHQ by NBSE chairman, who said that marksheets and other educational certificates sent to the board for verification by various technical institutes from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were found to be fake.
