Fire incidents, jungle fire reported in Dimapur, Wokha

Two houses were gutted in two separate incidents of fire break out in Dimapur while a jungle fire was reported in Wokha. No casualties were reported. 

However, properties worth lakh of rupees were destroyed, stated in a press release issued by R.O. (E) Fire and Emergency Services, Kenny Khing. In the first incident, a house with four rooms and kitchen were reduced to ashes in the inferno at Mishikito Village, Thilixu area Dimapur on February 13.  Property worth Rs. 15 lakh was destroyed. Two fire tenders and & fire personnel were pressed into action and timely intervention prevented the fire from spreading further, the release stated. 

A “kutcha” house was completely razed down in the fire that broke out at Seiuruzha Colony, Dimapur on February 15. Property worth Rs.8 lakh was destroyed. Here too, timely information and response from fire personnel prevented the fire spreading further to the surrounding houses. In both the incidents, the cause of fire was suspected to be due to electrical short circuit.

Meanwhile, tree plantation and property worth Rs. 50,000 were destroyed in a jungle fire that broke out at Lower Mount Tiyi, Wokha on February 14. 

Fire and Emergency Services team from fire station Wokha proceeded and control the fire.
