Suspected cadres of Nyemlang-led NSCN (K) reportedly opened fire at 45 Assam Rifles ‘E’ Coy camp at ITC Dan, under Noklak district on August 15, 2020. There were, however, there were no reports of any casualties. Wolam Nyukyan (New Pangsha) Students’ Union has strongly condemned the firing incident, which it said destroyed the peaceful environment and put the lives of innocent people at risk.

In a press release, WNYSU president P.Nyukshing Lam and assistant general secretary Keen M also said that “this dastardly act” has also brought hindrance to all the villagers particularly the students.

The student body said that the citizens of Pangsha and the state government of Nagaland created ITC Dan to become one of the major trading hubs and not for ‘battle ground’.

Instead of creating “such extremely unthinkable situation”, the union has urged the responsible to render their “valuable service” in field of education and development. “We are peace loving citizens we don’t have a place for war and bloodshed in our land,” the union said.

The union also appealed to all responsible not to create such unwanted situations anymore and maintain peaceful atmosphere in the area.
