Footballer training youngsters during pandemic

In an encouraging move from a professional footballer in Nagaland, former Shillong Lajong FC goalkeeper, Neithovilie Chalieu has been training and coaching the young upcoming footballer at Tsiepama village under Dimapur district.

Since August 31, the goalkeeper has been training 27 youngsters at the coaching camp which will last for 15 days. 

The 21 year old footballer Chalieu currently signed a three year contract with Ryntih Sports and Cultural Club, a club based in Shillong. 

Chalieu said football is an ideal sport for children to improve their fitness level. “The pandemic has affected many people from doing their works especially the students, so by taking advantage of the situation, I along with Rovilezo decided to organize the coaching camp to guide and motivate the youngsters in the field of football,” said the goalkeeper. 

On his struggle as a professional footballer, Chalieu said only through determination and love for football took him to where he is now today. 

In his message to aspiring footballers, the goalkeeper said, “with hardwork and determination everything can be achieved.

The goalkeeper who has played at the national level also expressed concern about the State giving less importance to footballer at grassroots. He said grassroots level will help the young players mould their interest in the field of sports.
