Four deaths push Manipur’s COVID-19 fatalities to 44

Manipur reported the highest single-day spike of deaths due to COVID-19 as four patients including a Central security force personnel died on Thursday.
A report of the state health department said that four persons including a 42-year-old CAPF personnel died due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours (till 5 pm, September). Including the personnel who died at Churachandpur district hospital on Thursday, three CAPF personnel have died from COVID-19 in the state so far. Three locals, including a woman of age around 74 years,  expired at JNIMS (two) and RIMS (one) hospitals, the report added.
The four deaths have pushed the state’s COVID-19 death toll to 44.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 infection tally of the state rose to 7,470 with 108 fresh cases reported during the last 24 hours. Among them, 1633 were active cases and 5793 have recovered. The 108 fresh cases included 26 CAPF personnel. Among the 82 cases from the general populace, 74 were locally transmitted cases.
The state also recorded the highest single-day recovery of 245 patients taking the recovery rate to 77.55%, the report said.
The report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room also informed that of the 7470 total infections, 1764 were CAPF personnel.
