Ganesan visits Chandel to mark first public appearance as Mnp Governor

Marking his first public appearance after taking the charge of Manipur Governor, La Ganesan paid a maiden visit to Chandel district on Monday.

The Governor attended an interaction programme with government officials in the district and leaders of civil society organizations hosted by the district administration during his visit, a DIPR release said.

On the occasion the Governor said that he has a desire to give more emphasis on “Arogaya”, the overall wellbeing, health of mind, body and spirit. 

Speaking about the significance of Navratri and Durga Puja he said that those who have strength are respected even by God and Goddess. 

He then said that Manipur is famous for its sports and cultural activities which are very much related to health and mental wellbeing. 

He also congratulated the district administration and the Chandel DC for providing clean toilets to all the girls’ schools throughout the district and also for achieving 100% open defecation free in the district.

He further said that his main concern was the rate of vaccination in the district which was only 50% and advised the administration to try to achieve 100% or at least 90% vaccination of both doses in the district. 

He said that the government cannot stop the pandemic but can provide the vaccines to protect from it. He added that the government was even using drones to deliver vaccines and was ready to provide everything while urging the public to support the district administration and help in becoming the first 100% vaccinated district of the state.

On the occasion, Chandel DC  Mayanglambam Rajkumar presented a detailed report about the district and the developmental works being taken up in the district to the visiting Governor. 

The DC also highlighted the challenges being faced by the district administration. 

As a part of the programme, the Governor also honoured the families of the two Kargil war Martyrs,  Chara Nicholas Moyon of Hegrutampak village and  Ng Beningvir Moyon of Kupthar both from Naga Regiment.
