Foundation stone of the multi-utility hall of Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) was laid by advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire at Chandmari ground on October 19.

A press release by GPPK publicity committee stated that, speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kire mentioned that COVID-19 pandemic has brought about a different norm which required smaller gatherings on any occasions. He therefore called upon people to start practicing and avoiding big crowds for one’s own safety. Remarking that people in town area have become complacent and do not follow the guidelines or SOPs issued by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19, he appealed all to continue with what has been asked to do including wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing.

Dr Kire also assured of all possible support towards GPPK and its community members and would also take up the matter with the government.

He further called upon the Gorkha community to work in cohesion with their leaders for a better future.

GPPK president Santu Thapa delivering the welcome address expressed hope that Dr. Kire would extend support towards the successful completion of the multi-utility hall. GPPK general secretary Suresh Kumar Lama presented a brief report of the project, while welfare secretary Mohan Gurung tendered vote of thanks.
