Amidst the uncertainty of the annual Hornbill Festival due to the pandemic, Nagaland’s iconic Hornbill Music Festival (HMF) has now partnered with V-Rox festival, a music festival held annually in Vlasdivosk, Russia.

“We are happy to announce that on this day, the 3rd of August, 2020, that V-Rox festival in Vladivostok, Russia, and Hornbill Music festival, Nagaland, India agree to be festival partners and we shall explore avenues and platforms for the exchange of music, art, and culture, between the two festivals and countries in the days and years ahead”, a joint statement from organizers of the festival said.

Chief minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio in a tweet said, “I am happy to know that V-Rox Festival, Vladivostok, Russia and Hornbill Music Festival Nagaland, India, will be festival partners. Congratulations and I hope the collaboration will foster bilateral interest in music, art and culture and will be enriching for both the countries”.

V-ROX (Vladivostok Rock) festival was launched in Vladivostok in 2013 held annually on the last weekend of August.

The festival is an expansive city music festival, yet at the same time it is an international conference on matters of the music industry and cultural management.

On their official website V-ROX updated that the V-ROX organizing committee has begun their preparations for the V-ROX-2021 festival, which will be held in May 2021 in Vladivostok.

As part of this partnership, a Russian group selected by V-ROX organizing committee may travel to India in December to take part in the festival - if the global epidemiological situation allows it. Musicians, artistes and chefs from India will come to V-ROX 2021, it was informed.

According to the update, V-ROX already hosted a whole “creative troop” from Nagaland in 2019 with DJ INA, Chef Salangyanger Jamir.

In 2017, the Rattle and Hum Band from Nagaland also took part at V-ROX festival.
