Zlatan Ibrahimovic and AC Milan are closing on a deal for the 2020/21 season. Ibrahimovic - who scored 11 goals in 20 games last season - rejoined Milan in December after leaving LA Galaxy, on a deal until the end of the season that included the option to extend until 2021.

The Serie A club are keen to have the 38-year-old’s signature confirmed by Monday when the squad are scheduled to meet up.

It is understood that the parties are looking for middle ground on wages for a one-year deal, between the €7.5m (£6.77m) being sought by Ibrahimovic and the €5m (£4.5m) on offer from Milan.

The Sweden international previously spent two seasons at Milan, after initially joining them on a season-long loan from Barcelona in August 2010.

Ibrahimovic helped the Rossoneri win the Serie A title that season before signing for them permanently in June 2011. He left for Paris Saint-Germain a year later having scored 56 times in 85 appearances.
