IDCF launched in Longleng district

Medical department Longleng on Tuesday launched Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) in all the health units across Longeng district.

A press release by chief medical officer (CMO) office stated that the launching programme was held at a makeshift hospital in Longleng wherein district community mobiliser (DCM) Henmei spoke on the set of activities to be implemented in an intensified manner for prevention and control of deaths due to dehydration from diarrhoea across the states. 

She spoke on advocacy and awareness campaign for diarrhoea management, and prepositioning of ORS by ASHA in the households with under five children and awareness generation activities for hygiene and sanitation. 

Henme said IDCF goal was to attain zero child deaths due to childhood diarrhoea stating that the focus was on delivery of simple proven interventions that have large impact towards control of childhood diarrhoeal morbidity and mortality. 

She also spoke on the activities in the community and village level, at health facility level, and the target beneficiaries. Henme also demonstrated on how to prepare ORS, how to make the local homemade ORS, and the administering of the Zinc tablets. 

The release informed that prior to the launching of IDCF, ORS and ZINC tablets were distributed to all the health units. It said ASHAs in all the blocks and villages to go for home visit during the two week and will culminate on September 14.
