Independence Day celebrated in Zunheboto

74th Independence Day was celebrated in Zunheboto with advisor, Tourism and Art & Culture, H. Khehovi Yepthomi unfurling the national flag at Zunheboto local ground on August 15. 
In his address the advisor said “we are all aware the COVID 19 pandemic has affected the whole of humanity in the past few months taking thousands of lives and infecting millions of people even the most developed nations on earth have struggled to deal with the damage caused by this disease including India many so called advanced states have seen their systems being severely tested by the crisis.” He said “by the grace of God, Nagaland remained relatively free of the Novel Coronavirus in the initial phase giving us precious time to prepare ourselves.” “However from the beginning, our state along with the rest of the country has faced the pandemic with a firm resolve,” the advisor remarked.
On Tourism, he said the industry was an important part of the state economy that provides a large number of jobs to the citizens. He said this sector was also a key element of brand Nagaland as the state’s tourism event have become renowned across the world. “However the pandemic has had a very negative impact on tourism industry across the world,” he said adding that despite these challenges, it was crucial that “we move forward and re-strategize ourselves to protect Nagaland acclaimed status as a tourism destination.”  Khehovi said that new initiatives by way of all round improvement of the tourism eco-system are underway through measures like strengthening of human resources, improvement of infrastructure upgradation to digital platforms, capacity building and redrawing of tourism strategies in order to maintain continuity. He also added that the government has also decided to organise the flagship event of Hornbill Festival this year with a few modifications.
