10NAP(IR)Bn gets 920 coveted ASSP Medals


Officers and personnel of Nagaland’s 10th NAP(IR) Battalion were awarded 920 Antrik Suraksha SevaPadak (medals) at an impressive function at the 10 NAP(IR)Battalion Headquarters Zhadima Thursday.
The ASSP was instituted by the home ministry in 2018 to police and paramilitary forces for outstanding services while fighting terrorism, left wing extremism and insurgency.
Director General of Police (DGP), Nagaland, T John Longkumer presented the awards.
In his address the DGP acknowledged the services rendered by the Police officers and personnel of the 10th NAP(IR)Battalion by setting examples through their dedication and sincerity while performing their duties. He also urged upon the awardees to wear their medal with pride while encouraging the remaining Police personals of the state to put more efforts to improve their rankings while mentioning that it takes lot of dedication and determination to reach the goal.
In his welcome address, commandant 10th NAP(RR)Battalion Vekhosa Chakhesang NPS, said the event marked the maturity and progress of 10th NAP (IR) which would be marked in the history of the unit.
Vekhosa also congratulated all the officers and men who had rendered dedicated service, upholding the corporate principles, demonstrates the Nagaland Police motto “Service, Security & Sacrifice” for a better future of mankind.
The 10th NAP(IR)Battalion is the second armed police battalion from Nagaland, after the 9th NAP(IR)Battalion to be awarded the Antrik Suraksha Seva Padak. A brief history of the 10th NAP(IR)Battalion was mentioned during the programme.
The unit was raised on January 29, 2002, under the motto “STRIKING TENTH” with purple and white as unit colour. The Battalion Logo was adopted and approved by PHQ in 2021, with the Roman numeral “X” and the cross hair represented the Unit’s ability to strike anywhere with deadly precision depicting its operational nature, since the inception, the unit has been deployed and performed various duties both within and outside the state.
Earlier inauguration of Purple Hall and Unveiling of Medals were also carried out by DGP Longkumer.
The function was chaired by NikhoVenuh Dy, Comdt 2(i/c), while dedication prayer was proposed by Rev Toshi (Unit Pastor)
