14th Sumi Hoho Gold cup gets underway

The 14th Sumi Hoho Gold Cup got underway at Suruhuto town under Zunheboto district with PHED minister Jacob Zhimomi as special guest.
Speaking at the opening programme, Jacob expressed happiness that Sumi youngsters were showing interest in the field of Sports. The special guest maintained that many Nagas think that getting government job was the only option to earn a living. However, Jacob said that such misconception needed to be eradicated from their minds because God has bestowed different talents to sustain their livelihoods. The minister said that one needed to identify in which filed they were gifted so get could be groomed to become professionals in particular field. He also said that Nagas have innate talents in the field of sports, but lamented that many did not take it as a profession and stop pursuing.
Earlier, speaking as chief host of the tournament, advisor tourism, art and culture, H Khehovi, lauded PHED minister Jacob Zhimomi for gracing the event and encouraging young players. Khehovi also appealed to the players to maintain sportsmanship and discipline. He also asked them to feel at home and walk back home with memories of nine-day long stay at Suruhuto.
In his short speech, Sumi Hoho president Nikheto challenged the Sumi players to come forward as professionals and bring laurel to the community in particular and the Nagas in general.
Some of the highlights of the inaugural function included folkdance by Khumishi village, Imunopi sujo-sujo by Surumi village and a special number by Mughavi K. Aye
