ADC Kohima bans slaughtering of pigs

Following the detection of African Swine Fever (ASF) at various locations under Kohima district, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Kohima, Rhosietho Nguori has declared various areas as “Infected Zones and Surveillance Zones.”
According to a DIPR report, ADC informed that the infected zone included Jakhama Village (1km radius of infected premises); surveillance zone—10 km radius from the infected premises (9km radius outside the infected zones; infected zone—Khonoma Village (1km radius of infected premises) and surveillance zone—10Km radius from the infected premises) (9km radius outside the infected zones)
The order stated the following restrictions are to be strictly adhered to in the aforementioned locations until further order—ban on slaughter of pigs; ban on import and export of pigs and piglets; ban on transportation of pigs and pork.
