An advocacy and awareness programme on COVID-19 vaccination was organised by state-level monitoring team on COVID-19 at Phek village.
In a press release, National Health Mission (NHM) Phek informed that the state level monitoring team for COVID-19 led by secretary youth resources and sports and parliamentary affairs, Wezope Kenye; joint director Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Puse Liegise along with other district officials comprising of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Phek, Razouvolie Dozo and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Phek, Dr. Khriezotuo Paphino and others conducted the programme.
The team held advocacy meeting with the village council members, church leaders, VDB, youth bodies, students, VDWA and others.
Wezope Kenye said that since at present there was no cure for COVID-19 one should get vaccinated at the earliest. He said being vaccinated could decrease the chances of hospitalisation and that vaccinated people are at low risk of getting infection.
Dr. Puse Liegise spoke on the importance of getting vaccinated specially people with co-morbidities and on the importance of early testing and early detection.
Razouvolie Dozo urged the gathering to get vaccinated at the earliest without hesitation as vaccination was the only weapon to fight against the virus.
Dr. Khriezotuo Paphino shared the data of COVID vaccination and appealed the stakeholders to create awareness in the community and do away with rumours.
The district team has also conducted an interactive session with the youth bodies and vaccination session was also held after the programme.
