AHTU sensitised on human trafficking

District administration and Sakhi One-stop Centre (OSC) Mokokchung in collaboration with State Resource Centre for Women organised a training & capacity building programme for Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) and stakeholders dealing with human rehabilitation of human trafficking and rehabilitation in Mokokchung on Thursday.
According to a DIPR report, the programme was supported by National Commission for Women in collaboration with Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW).
Delivering the keynote address, SDO (C) & OSC nodal officer, Sentilong Ozukum said most times, people did not voice out against violence.
He pointed out that if one did not voice out against violence, he was indirectly encouraging violence.
Human trafficking, which is a community-wide problem can be controlled or eliminated only through community participation, Sentilong stated.
At the programme, topics on concept, different patterns and dimensions of human trafficking and cases reported/modus operandi, role of AHTUs, legal mechanism to address human trafficking, etc, were discussed.
Resource persons included—additional SP & OSC nodal officer, Imtimeren, advocate Talijungla Longkumer MDLSA panel lawyer, OSC, Dr. Amongla, chairperson, child welfare committee and Watsu Mungdang president, S. Arenla Longkumer.
The programme was moderated by OSC case worker, Ajungla Longchar.
