‘Anti-dengue month’ observed in Dimapur

The office of the Urban Vector Borne Disease Scheme (UVBDS) Dimapur in collaboration with Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) observed “anti-dengue month” with chief medical officer (CMO) Dimapur, Dr. Moatemjen Jamir as special guest in Dimapur, on Wednesday.
In a press release, UVBDS assistant director Kikolul Khieya informed that, Dr Moatemjen Jamir highlighted about the importance of source reduction to control the spread of dengue fever. He also asked DUCCF to organise cleanliness drive & social work within respective compounds by disposing and removing unnecessary water containers in their surroundings.
In his speech, DUCCF president, Tsenthungo Nyamo acknowledged the Medical department for taking DUCCF on board in various departmental activities under the initiatives of CMO Dimapur and UVBDS Malaria.
He also expressed gratitude to UVBDS for efficiently distributing Long Lasting Insecticides Nets (LLINS) covering all colonies of Dimapur urban areas in 2019. Later, Kikolul Khieya highlighted about the transmission of dengue fever, prevention and control measures. The programme was chaired by LDA UVBDS, M Zachamo Ezung. After the programme, office of the UVBDS and DUCCF resolved to organise cleanliness drives & social work every Saturday till November 30, 2022 within respective compounds by disposing and removing water containers and to fill up ditches and other unwanted water collection sites around houses/compounds.
