Assamese among 3 held with 1.07 kg of brown sugar in Mnp

An Assamese was among three persons arrested by Manipur police with 1.073 kg of brown sugar around 10 am on Sunday.
The value of the seized contraband drugs was estimated to be over Rs 10 crore in the international market even as the police estimated it at Rs 85 lakhs in the local market. A team of police in Jiribam district bordering Assam, on routine frisking and checking on NH-37, intercepted the contraband drugs from Maruti Alto brand car (MN 01 AG – 0671) ) coming from Imphal side around 10 am on Sunday. The three occupants of the car were detained and handed over to the Jiribam police station along with the seized item.
One of the arrested persons, Debashish Paul (23) is from Salgangapar-II of Assam’s Cachar, presently residing in Yepao Colony of Senapati district of Manipur. The other two were identified as Sevanshon Sevan Raja (30) of Chawangkining village of Kangpokpi district and Sevan Raja Athoi Chiru (23) of the same village.
