Awareness campaign on ASF at Zhadima


An awareness campaign on African Swine Fever/Classical Swine Fever (ASF) in pigs and rabies disease in dogs was held at 10th NAP (India Reserve) battalion headquarters, Zhadima, here on Tuesday.
The campaign was organized by chief veterinary office, Kohima and sponsored by department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS).
Resource persons Dr. Aonungla Jamir spoke on Classical Swine Fever while Dr. Elizabeth Yhome spoke on African Swine Fever.
Earlier the programme was chaired by 10th NAP (IR) battalion headquarters Zhadima, deputy commandant, Nikho Venuh.
During the campaign the team administered anti-rabies vaccines to over 50 pet dogs while free medicines including dewormers, mineral, mixtures etc. were distributed while medicine for classical swine fever was given to pig farmers.
Later, 10th NAP (IR) commandant Vekhosa Ckg (NPS) acknowledged the veterinary team and the department for the initiative to prevent the disease and for free vaccination of the domesticated animals at the battalion’s headquarters.
