Bar associations urge Centre to set up HC

A delegation of lawyers from Nagaland have once again appealed to the Centre to set up a separate High Court for Nagaland.
A delegation representing the Nagaland Bar Association (NBA) led by its president, A. Zhimomi and the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) led by its president, C.T. Jamir met Union Minister of Law and Justice, Kiren Rijiju at Guwahati and also submitted a representation in this regard.
Rijiju apprised the delegation of the steps taken by the Central government and the State government, a press note from the NBA stated.
“The meeting was positive and it is the expectation of the Bar of Nagaland that the State would soon have its High Court,” NBA stated.
Earlier, Rijiju had also assured a delegation of advocates from Kohima to retake the issue of having a separate High Court of Nagaland with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
