Block-level orientation on anemia held in Longleng

A two-day block level orientation for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) of all three blocks under Longleng district was conducted on July 4 & 5 in the conference hall of the chief medical officer (CMO).
In a press release, office of the CMO informed that during the training programme, DPM NHM, Viroli Sangtam explained the meaning of “Anemia Mukt Bharat”.
She informed that according to the National Family Health Survey conducted on 2017, the percentage of Anemia in Longleng district was 14% and in the recent survey conducted on 2021, the percentage increased to 40% which she said, was not a good sign.
She encouraged all to work together in order to eradicate anemia.
Meanwhile, CMO Longleng, Dr. Obangjungla in her welcome address congratulated ASHAs for all the work that they have been doing.
She asked them to work not only to fulfil their duty but also to accept and love each child as one’s own.
Further, the CMO said success of the district depended on workings at the grassroots.
Imparting orientation to ASHAs, DPO Dr. Meren Phom spoke on anemia, it’s causes and prevention. He also highlighted the role of ASHAs in ensuring that the public was aware of anemia.
