CBLT, SBAK hold CEM exchange programme

Chang Baptist Lashong Thangyen (CBLT) and Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (SBAK) kick-start Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) Clean Election Movement (CEM) under the theme, “My Vote, My Future” by organising an exchange programme on August 3 at Suruhoto Town Baptist Church.
A press release by SBAK informed that Chang Baptist Church Dimapur, Pastor Dr.Wongto Chingmak, who is also the convenor CBLT CEM, while delivering the speech on clean election said by advocating such movements churches were building a strong foundation for the society.
He termed evils of election like selling one’s birth right, proxy voting, use of alcohol and drugs as some of the primary reasons of downfall of a society.
He called upon the people to wash their hands off such evils and purify their minds for “clean hands and clean votes”.
CBLT executive secretary, Rev Achu Chang while speaking on clean election expounded on the strategies the CBLT has adapted to go about with clean election.
He mentioned some of the strategies such as to work together with civil societies, to have open forum for the candidates, to get slogans from different churches where local churches could come with their own slogans, to have signature campaign which would begin from Chang Baptist Church Dimapur, to have clean electoral rolls by doing away with voting for death persons.
The programme was chaired by SBAK secretary women department, Katoli V. Sumi, invocation was said by former executive secretary of CBLT, Ongmang Chang. Greetings by STBC convenor CEM SBAK, Kughato K. Chophi, SBCZ Pastor Dr. Hutton Sumi responded on the clean election speeches, SBAK executive secretary, Rev Hukugha Sumi said a prayer and commitment.
Vote of thanks was delivered by NTC principal, Dr.Niholi Sumi and benediction by Khukishe Baptist Church Pastor Khutovi Swu.
