CCoNPI to meet NSCN (I-M) today

Staff Reporter

Core Committee on Naga Political Issue (CCoNPI) will be meeting NSCN (I-M) leaders on Saturday at Chümoukedima to deliberate on the Naga political issue.
According to sources, CCoNPI delegation will be led by chief minister Neiphiu Rio while NSCN (I-M) will be represented by senior members of the group. The meeting also comes days after Union Home minister Amit Shah had asked the committee members to impress upon the NSCN (I-M) on signing the final agreement.
Though the Core Committee, in its July 16 resolution (No.3) admitted that “since the talks has been concluded officially on 31st October 2019, the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Hon’ble Union Home Minister is urged upon to invite the NSCN (IM) leaders for an early conclusion,” Shah, however, had literally put the ball back in the court of the state legislators over the latter’s plea for securing early solution to the Naga political issue.
It may be mentioned that the CCoNPI had also handed over the July 16 resolution to Amit Shah, nearly two months after it was adopted at Kohima. A copy was also handed out to the Centre’s Representative A.K. Mishra at Nagaland House on September 8.
