‘Children’s Parliament’ in Peren

The annual capacity building workshop and 2nd general session of Peren district “Children’s Parliament” was held at St. Xavier’s HSS, Jalukie on September 3.
According to Development Association of Nagaland (DAN), the Children’s Parliament is implemented by the DAN in the districts of Dimapur, Chumoukedima, Peren, Kiphire and Wokha with the objective of empowering children on democracy, governance and active citizenry.
52 representatives from eight Institutional Children’s Parliaments and four Neighborhood Parliaments from Peren attended the event.”
In his message, Rev. Fr. Sajan Joseph, director, DAN expressed gratitude to the officials for their valuable inputs for the children.
A panel discussion was also conducted which consisted of UBSI Disa, 2nd O/C Jalukie PS, Pikhato E Tuccu, DCPO Peren, Taklamding, Child Line 1098 Peren and Laingkebo, Chairman of New Jalukie Village Council.
The panelists provided detailed inputs to the children on the functions, duties and activities of the respective institution they represented. The workshop was followed by second annual general session of the District Children’s Parliament where the reports and plans of School and Neighborhood Children’s Parliament were presented and passed.
