Conference on capital markets held at Kohima

As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) organised a conference on “Creating Wealth through Market” at Capital Convention Centre here on Friday as part of an iconic event held across 75 cities in the country.
Speaking on the occasion on investments not coming to Nagaland, Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) CEO and former chief secretary Alemtemshi Jamir cited factors like provisions of Article 371(A) regarding land transfer, absence of skilled labour and law & order as responsible, while emphasising that it was time for Nagas to also concentrate on capital marketing.
Other speakers at the event were Rohan Abraham, who spoke on “Retail investor wealth creation”, while UTI, AMC Ltd, associate vice-president Sourav Mazumdar gave a lecture on “The great India story – savings, investments and wealth creation”.
National Stock Exchange of India Ltd manager Sourav Roy gave a presentation on “Exchange creating wealth through stock market”.
Speaking on “Financial literacy & women as rising independent investor”, Sapient Wealth Advisors & Brokers Pvt Ltd associate partner Kvulo Lhorin said women were significantly less financially literates than men in India. Pointing out that India had the potential to be among the top financial literate countries in the world, he however regretted that 27% of its people lacked literacy in finance.
The conference was aimed to educate, encourage and empower people in 75 cities across India about investments and creating wealth and on the steps taken by the Central government for ensuring financial growth of the citizens.
