CS J Alam releases NFMP manuals and annual report

State chief secretary, J Alam released Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) manuals and annual report (2020-2021) on February 2 at the chief secretary’s conference room, Kohima.
According to a DIPR report, while releasing the manual Alam congratulated the entire NFMP team for their good works in implementation of activities of the project. He urged the team to focus on publicity of various activities through media including social media.
The chief secretary new practices, technologies shall be deployed in the project and assured that efforts would be about convergence with concerned departments.
At the programme, project director (Imp, M&E), Vedpal Singh highlighted the status of the NFMP such as engagement of Project Management Consultant (PMC), infrastructure strengthening, recruitment of PMU and DMU support staff, setting up of GIS and MIS lab, deployment of FNGOs in all districts, Microplan preparation, entry point activity and water harvesting structures, formation of SHGs and establishment of nursery and plantation activities etc.
A presentation about the various modules of the WebGIS portal as well as the mobile app platform was presented by GIS expert, Rashid while MIS expert, Longshithung presented about the working of the MIS portal capturing various data involved in the implementation of the project activities.
PMC international expert, Jayesh Bhatia commented upon issues like capacity building, preparation of microplan, nursery and plantation activities at different stages of various batches in the villages.
He pointed out that the pace of release of fund flows to villages, needs to be augmented. Bhatia also discussed about convergence with allied departments and having a common platform for all externally aided projects like JICA, IFAD and KFW.
The programme was chaired by PCCF & HoFF, Dharmendra Prakash, who also gave a brief overview about the NFMP project.
