DC Niuland issues public advisory

In view of the onset of monsoon season and as per the weather forecast report received from Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), deputy commissioner (DC) & chairman, DDMA Niuland, Ajit Kumar Verma has informed that the district was likely to experience inundated water logging, flash flood and rising water level in the rivers and streams in the hill sector.
In an advisory, DC said in order to avoid any eventualities arising from exposure to lightning or flash floods, the public of Niuland district have been advised to refrain from venturing into rivers and river banks for picnic, fishing and other water related activities or shelter under large trees.
Further, concerned area administrative officers/head of the departments/village disaster management authorities/village council chairman/head GBs/GBs/ward authorities have been directed to take precautionary measures and be on alert to attend any emergencies caused by natural calamities/disaster to save the lives and properties during the monsoon period.
In this regard, the river banks would be strictly monitored by Village Disaster Management Authorities (VDMAs)/village councils/head GBs/ward authorities and cases of non-compliance, if any may be reported to the office through EAC (Sadar), Wiridin at 7085949791.
