DPS felicitates meritorious students

Staff Reporter

Delhi Public School (DPS) on Thursday, held a felicitation programme at the school assembly hall for 49 meritorious students of the recently conducted All India Senior School Examination (AISSCE).
Addressing the gathering, principal, BK Nanda asserted that marks were social requirements and not a requirement for students. He also highlighted stories and encounters where students who secured high marks could not land up any interviews or job placements.
Instead, he said, students should study to learn and not to score marks.
Nanda said when parents are very result oriented, many students break down and fail in securing the marks they ought to, due to the fear and pressure of securing high marks.
He said what a child requires was knowledge, wisdom, to know what is happening around him, awareness, facility, enhancement of their knowledge, etc.
Father, the principal said that the school was trying its best to prepare students to be ready for the outside world.
“Don’t worry about marks but worry about how much more we can give to the students”, he urged upon the parents.
In his short speech, PRO vice chairman, Dr Aotoshi acknowledged the teaching faculty of the school for coming up with the idea to conduct online classes before any other school in the state.
Earlier, invocation was offered by Aneikele Mero and vote of thanks was proposed by Rachel I Yepthomi.
Highlights of the programme included dance by DPS dance club and special song by DPS choir.
