Excise commr flags concern over free flow of liquor

Rs.52 Lakh worth IMFL seized in 4 months destroyed

Commissioner of Excise & Prohibition, H. Atokhe Aye on Saturday said that the removal of inter-state check gates have resulted in free flow of liquor into the state, which has also posed as a great challenge for the enforcement agency.
He said this while speaking at the ‘combined destruction programme of seized IMFL’ by Dimapur district Excise, Narcotic Cell & Mobile Squad at the Excise directorate office, deputy commissioner of excise (HQ) S. Chanlei Angh said in a press note.
Altogether, 40,484 bottles of assorted brands of IMFL were destroyed on the occasion amounting to Rs. 52,00,140 (Rupees Fifty-two lakhs one hundred and forty) at street value, which were seized during April 2022 to July 2022.
While congratulating the three wings of the department for the commendable seizure despite all the situational constrains, he encouraged the personnel to keep up the good work in the right spirit.
He also sought the support and cooperation of the public and social organizations.
Chairing the programme, S. Chanlei Angh lauded the three units for their achievements in making huge seizures within a short span of time.
Brief reports were also presented by the superintendent of excise (Dimapur), superintendent of excise (Mobile Squad) and deputy commissioner of Excise (Narcotic Cell).
