Farmers sensitised on conservation of fish biodiversity

Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Peren on September 13, conducted a sensitisation programme on importance of “conservation and fish biodiversity” at Poilwa Village.
In a press release, ATMA Peren informed that project director and DFO Dorothy Yanthan said the main goal in conservation programme was to conserve genetic diversity. She informed that fish genetic resources could be conserved by protecting ecosystem which was broad based, on-specific, cost effective and relatively simplistic in approach.
The DFO also added that it was aimed at general and specific species such as endangered or threatened ones, which could be achieved through many mechanisms including in-situ and ex-situ method.
