Food Safety & Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) awareness camp held in Mokokchung

DIMAPUR: Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) and Food Safety, Mokokchung Zone conducted the Food Safety & Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) awareness camp for butchers, fish vendors and poultry stalls within Mokokchung town on March 31 in the MMC hall.
In a press release, DPMU Mokokchung informed that during the programme, ADC & administrator MMC, Shashant Pratap Singh spoke on the importance of food safety and stressed on maintaining strict hygiene in the meat and fish stalls.
Sesnsitising the gathering on various aspects of FSSAI, designated officer (Food Safety), C. Merenlemba Ao said this included following schedule IV of FSSAI which outlines specific points of maintaining sanitation and hygiene in the premises, transportation of meat, personnel hygiene etc., and getting registered under FSSAI.
He pointed out that food safety was everyone’s responsibility and self-compliance was what would drive FSSA Act successfully. After the programme, online FSSAI registration for FBOs was conducted.
