Fund allocation for railway projects in NE rises to 254%

The fund allocation for the railway projects in the North Eastern states has been increased by 254 per cent in the last eight years (2014-2022) compared to the previous same period, Minister of State for Railways and Textiles Darshana Jardosh said here on Thursday.
The minister said that the expansion of rail connectivity in NE has been the topmost priority of the Central government.
“…It would help in improving connectivity as well as assist the northeastern region becoming a logistic hub leading to economic transformation,” the minister said.
Jardosh accompanied by Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh held a meeting to review the progress of the Jiribam-Imphal New railway project. Northeast Frontier Railway general manager Anshul Gupta and other senior officials were also present during the review meeting. (Read more on p-4)
Rio to flag off extension of Donyi Polo Exp today
NPN: State chief minister Neiphiu Rio will flag off extension of Naharlagun- Guwahati to Shokhuvi Donyi Polo Express on Friday. The inaugural service of the rain 15818/15817 will be flagged off at 11 a.m. The train will depart from Shokhuvi railway station at 11 a.m. and arrive at Naharlagun station in Arunachal Pradesh via Guwahati at 12.45 a.m. The train will have stoppages at nearly 18 stations.
According to officials, the Donyi Polo Express with 17 coaches, will run on a daily basis from Naharlagun to Shokhuvi railway station with effect from August 26, 2022.
