Gov extends ‘Phom Day’ greetings

Nagaland governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi has extended greetings to the people of Nagaland and Phom brothers and sisters on the occasion of Phom Day.
Mukhi said “this important landmark in Phom history reminds us of the commitment of the people to shun violence.”
He said the declaration of June 6 as Phom day (Peace day) marks the importance that the land was flourishing based on the spirit of universal brotherhood. “Peace, forgiveness and unity are the essence of this significant day and most importantly, our youth should continue to honour the commitment of non-violence made by our pioneering leaders,” Mukhi stated.
Pangnyu: State health & family welfare minister S. Pangnyu Phom also extended greetings on the occasion of the 70th Phom Day.
“This is the day that the Lord has made and whereby our forefathers made their mind to pledge and take unanimous decision during the darkest period in Phom history on 6th June 1952, to stop the culture of headhunting, shun violence and proclaim Peaceful Existence and Calm Environment for the younger generations,” he said.
While remembering and honouring the decision of the pioneers/elders, Pangnyu urged upon all to share this blessing to fellow Nagas and excel in unity for more glories and brighter future of all.
