Govt teachers, ASHAs sensitised on anemia

Anemia Mukt Bharat trainings for government teachers and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) were held from June 20-27 in Niuland, Dimapur Sadar, Chümoukedima, Dhansiripar and Medziphema.
In a press release, district media officer Dimapur, Kimnei informed that the “Anemia Mukt Bharat” programme was an initiative of the ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoH&FW) to reduce the prevalence of anemia in the vulnerable age group such as women, children and adolescents by focusing on their health and nutrition needs.
At the training programmes, the resource persons sensitised the trainees on the prevalence of anemia in the state and its public health implication such as reduce in physical development, impact on pregnancy outcome, reduced cognitive development and its impact on the economy.
They also highlighted strategies to combat anemia.
Resource persons for the programme were—Dr. Rosemary and Vinitoli for Niuland, Dr. Liza, Priscilla, and Kavitoli for Chümoukedima, Dr. Rebecca and Melengunuo for Dimapur Sadar, Dr. Khriekoulie Liezietsu and Mailigdi Naben for Dhansiripar and Dr. Temsu and Nungsangjungla for Medziphema.
