HC disposes PIL on ‘taxation’; urges govt to install CCTVs at check gates

The Gauhati High Court (GHC) Kohima Bench has disposed of a Public Interest Litigation on collection of illegal taxes at various check gates in Nagaland and also on double/dual taxation over the inter State goods.
In an order, the two-judge bench of Justice S. Serto and Justice Kakheto Sema considering the May 19, 2022 notification issued by the Home department and November 16, 2021 notification issued by Municipal Affairs Department, stated that concerns raised by the petitioners have been answered. The court also asked the state government to consider installing CCTVs in those inter-State gates.
The PIL was filed by representatives of ACAUT, BAN and PAC.
