Intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight launched in Longleng and Zunheboto

With an objective to sensitise people on diarrhea caused child deaths and preventive measures, Intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight (IDCF) programs were launched in Longleng and Zunheboto districts on June 27.
Zunheboto: District Health Society (DHS) Zunheboto launched Intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight (IDCF) at New Colony Prayer Fellowship, Zunheboto and across all health units within district on June 27.
In a press release issued by CMO Zunheboto office, it stated that IDCF was organised with an objective to attain zero number of child deaths caused by diarrhea and aimed to create mass awareness on the most effective and low-cost diarrhea treatment — a combination of Oral Rehydration Salt (ORS) solution and Zinc tablets.
DVBO & DSO Zunheboto, Dr. J. Hokugha Sema spoke on key actions and prevention on diarrhea. He stressed on importance and use of ORS and Zinc during diarrheal episodes in children and assured that it was a safe treatment which helped the child recover faster from diarrhea.
DPM (NHM) Zunheboto, Rosemary Vitoli in her keynote address gave an overview on IDCF which would continue till July 11 across all health units in the district.
Later, short speech was delivered by GB, New Colony, AkutoYeptho.
Longleng: Meanwhile, Training of Trainers (ToT) on Anemia Mukt Bharat cum launching of IDCF (Intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight) was conducted on June 27 at CMO office conference hall, district headquarter, Longleng.
In a press release issued by CMO office, it stated that Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Longleng, Dr. Obangjungla, while delivering the welcome note, encouraged everyone present to ask and learn from each other without hesitating while emphasising on the importance of teamwork.
Further, district program officer (DPO), Dr. Meren Phom, launched the IDCF and gave a brief orientation on Anemia Mukt Bharat.
Programme was attended by CMO, DPO, medical officers (MO), CHOs, ANMs, GNMs of all health units, block program managers (BPM), block asha coordinator (BAC), DPM, and District Community Mobilizer (DCM).
Various PHCs, CHCs, and sub-centers under Longleng district held IDCF programs and distributed ORS and Zinc tablet supplies.
