IRCS launches ‘TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ in Mon district

Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was launched at District Hospital (DH) Mon, on Thursday, in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Mon unit, sponsored by 27 Assam Rifles, Mon.
In a press release, NHM Mon media officer, Leeyan Chemshy informed that DTO Mon NTEP Dr. Tinenlo James Katiwa in his address, said the prime minister has set ambitious goal of making India TB-free by 2025, five years ahead of global target.
Dr. Tinenlo said the programme was strongly moving towards achieving the target in the country.
He said in order to achieve the target, NHM has been giving nutritional support to TB patients under “Ni-KshayPoshan” scheme but it was not enough.
In this regard, he requested the public of Mon on behalf of the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), to contribute nutrition to any TB patients they come across since the district had a total number of 457 registered TB patients.
Short speeches were also delivered by Indian Red Cross Society Mon unit, Ngamto Konyak and Col. Santosh Rawat, SM, Commandant, 27 Assam Rifles.
Later, nutrition was distributed to TB patients.
