Jacob kicks off CDFA League

Minister of PHED, Jacob Zhimomi on Saturday kicked off the first District Football League 2022 of Chümoukedima.
The league is organized by Chümoukedima District Football Association (CDFA).
Addressing the gathering, Jacob stated that the greatest strength, asset and capital of the country was its youths.
He said by looking at the characteristics and behaviour of youths in the state, they were well informed, dynamic and capable to take on any task assigned to them.
Speaking on the importance of sports, he noted that sports have brought many countries, societies, intra and interstate and communities together.
He also spoke on the impact of Dr. T Ao in the state and the entire country, whereby the government of India had come up with a Stamp in the name of Dr. T. Ao.
Jacob also recalled the special status and schemes provided to the sports person, under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
He also spoke on how the state government, under the leadership of chief minister, Neiphiu Rio was very keen on development of sports, music, arts, etc.
“Nothing can stop you in progressing ahead in this great nation” he stated.
He also spoke on the empowerment of women all over the country, citing an example of having an elected President as a woman.
He later congratulated Chümoukedima on for successfully conducting the football League.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Akho Kezo and Visako Rino and invocation by Associate Pastor, CABA, Bendang Imsong.
Welcome address was delivered by general secretary, CDFA, Shiyeto Wotsa and special number performed by Kekhrie Ringa. Altogether eight teams are participating in the tournament. Meanwhile, in the opening match, Medziphema United and Sovima FC played out to a goalless draw.
