Kangleipak beat KTC XI in exhibition

In an exhibition match between Kangleipak Pari (KP) XI and Kohima Town Club (KTC) XI at Indira Gandhi Stadium on Saturday, the former emerged as the better of the two by 3-2.
KTC XI scored the first goal by Nyithong Magh with a header in the 21st minute of the game.
However, the visitors equalised in the 42nd minute by East Bengal FC’s player and team captain, Samboi.
Within three minutes of their first goal, the visitors doubled the score through its player Bipin, who plays for Mumbai FC.
The game though an exhibition match witnessed some thrilling moments when goalkeeper of the home team, Neithovilie Chalieu made some remarkable saves.
The first half came to a halt with the score at 2-1.
In the second half, the home team’s Ringham Jigdung equalised in the 54th minute.
When the match seemed to be headed for a stalemate, Samboi scored the winning and his second goal in the 72nd minute.
In the meantime, Boris, who plays for Jamshedpur FC and Bipin displayed some impressive skills and received huge applause from the spectators.
Home team’s captain Victor, who won the player of the tournament in the recently concluded Super Cup also displayed some brilliant tactics during the match.
After the match, team manager of KTC XI, Azho Sophie said the local players displayed good performance as they were apprehensive of losing badly at the hands of players who were all from national level teams.
He said the local players were at par when it came to the theoretical aspect of their gameplay however lot of work needed to be done on technical and practical sides of their skills.
Home team coach, Daniel Rongmei said tactically, the local players were not able to cope with the ISL players but as it was their first time to play against national players.
Earlier, in the brief programme, special guest, advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr Neikiesalie Kire, urged the players to display their best performance and maintain good discipline.
He hoped the players from both the teams would go on and represent their respective States and earn laurels as they progress in their career.
District Forest Officer, Rajkumar M, in a brief note thanked KTC for partnering with the District Forest Division in their event and helping in creating awareness on environmental issues.
The event was compered by Keneido-o Peseyie and Medolenuo Ambrocia Loucü while invocation was pronounced by Khedi Baptist Church associate pastor, Kezhakietuo Belho.
A special number was presented by Kekhrie Dzüvichü.
