Kevijau Colony Council, Kevijau Women Organisation, Kevijau Youth Organisation not to entertain ‘tax collection’

Kevijau Colony Council (KCC), Kevijau Women Organisation (KWO) and Kevijau Youth Organisation (KYO) have “pledged not to entertain any individual, groups or organisation to collect tax” within the colony.
In a joint press statement, the KCC chairman and presidents of KWO and KYO expressed dismay and resentment over the “random demand of tax by various individuals and groups in the colony with threat, which is not permissible before law”.
Meanwhile, the three bodies also vehemently condemned August 24 incident where a non-Naga businessman was picked up from his shop and manhandled by “unknown miscreant in the guise of the faction”. They claimed that the miscreant took Rs. 16,000 from the possession of the victim and further demanded Rs. 50,000.
The three bodies also stated that on August 28, an unknown miscreant forcefully extorted Rs. 1400 from another businessman in the colony.
Stating that such incidents were not acceptable in a civilised society, the three bodies cautioned that anybody found indulging in such illegal activities in the colony would be doing so at their own “risk and cost”.
