Correspondent

New Market FC continued with their impressive run by humiliating Highlanders 9-0 while Hurricane Boys Phesama overpowered Secretariat United FC (SUFC) 5-0 in the Kohima Super Cup (KSC) at IG Stadium here on Wednesday.
In a one-sided match, New Market FC dominated the match right from the first whistle. It took only two minutes for the New Market to open the account through Sinlo Kent’s strike. In the process, he also became the fastest to score in this edition. Kent’s also netted two more goals in the 4th and 59th minutes, to become the third players to score a hat-trick of the championship.
His fellow teammates LimakumzukAo and Visalie scored in the 14th and 32nd minutes of the first half while Mrethnmang, Nydeong, Gideon Leo and Ngdhong each added a goal in the 54th, 56th, 74th and 85th minutes of the game respectively.
Highlanders FC, despite their efforts, failed to make any dent in the defence line of their opponents and were finally knocked out of the cup.
Till now, Two of New Market FC’s players have scored hat-tricks with the first by Nyithong Magh against against Crimsoune Club. Hurricane Boys Phesama overpowered Secretariat United FC (SUFC) in the other match. In the first half of the match, SFUC put up a fierce fight against their much younger and faster opponent Hurricane Boys and prevented them from scoring any goals.
The Boys had a higher percentage of ball possession throughout the match however SFUC made some unexpected and close attempts including some shots on target all of which unfortunately failed to materialise. The vicious and repeated attempts by the Boys finally paid off in the last 30 minutes as their captain, Theja Chuse, scored four goals in the 60th, 75th, 81st and 82nd minutes of the game and another by Rokotuolie Thanyü sealed the fate of SUFC.
SUFC played defensively and were hoping to hold the game for a tie-breaker as they were the winners of an earlier penalty shootout trophy organised by KTC, however, their plan went haywire after a change of gameplay in the second half by their opponent.
