Longtsung village approach road inaugurated


A marathon programme of Lotsu circle tour under 39 Assembly Constituency was held on Friday, July 8, where inauguration of Longtsung village approach road construction through LADP (2021-2022) was done at Longtsung Baptist Church, while a consultative meeting under Lotsu, Pyangsa, Moilan, Pyotchu was held at Lotsu Village community hall.
Speaking at the inaugural programme of Logtsung village approach road, advisor, Horticulture & Border affairs, government of Nagaland, Mhathung Yanthan highlighted on project initiative, funding, and implementation and appreciated the workmanship of the project.
Yanthan urged the people to not only wait for the government to take up various minor works but called for community participation stating that “community participation is important and it has to come from every individual”. He urged for unity among the people and transparency in the village administration whilst also stating that “politics is an essential element in social life when positively taken into perspective”. He also called upon church leaders to nourish followers with ethics of social life which had become an integral part in human life.
The advisor said that the government had acknowledged the socio-economic survey done at 39 AC Sanis, informing that the centre had taken cognizance of Nagaland state under Ministry of Minority Affairs and that Chanpang and Sanis block under Wokha district had been selected under Minority Affairs for various development programmes addressing the needs of the area.
He further highlighted the issues and challenges concerning development in his constituency and assured his support in any capacity possible. Lamenting on the various challenges concerning the global pandemic, he expressed that many government funds and schemes were widely disturbed and less could be achieved during the last four and half years of his political career. He asked the people to remain patient as he was constantly taking action to meet various development programmes which were in progress.
At the consultative meeting held at LotsuCommunity hall, he highlighted the importance of education, water supply, as well as medical institutions which he addressed to the communalized village level organization to strengthen their assigned responsibility for effective implementation of schemes and programmes. He also informed that funds were yet to arrive through NEPC programmes and various schools have been put in place in which they will receive funds on instalment basis and therefore informed village education committee to utilise funds judiciously.
While addressing one of the major problems in road repairing from Sanis ‘0’ point to Lotsu village, Yanthan said that no funds were currently available to be procured from the department to address the pressing problem.
He however extended help for immediate repairing of food storehouse at Lotsu and procurement of medicines for first aid to area residents.
During the consultative meet, various grievances were brought forth by the community to the departments present to which Yanthan informed department HoDs present and sought for speedy attention to certain farmers’ problems.
Earlier C. Mozhui in his inaugural speech at the approach road inauguration said that in almost 60 years of Nagaland statehood there was no such major development in the village and the people had faced untold hardships. He appreciated the initiative of Yanthan for taking keen interest for the people.
DC Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS who also spoke at the inauguration programme said that only by visiting the ground reality of an area, one understands to address the issues and problems accordingly. He also said that the real engine of social progress is the people and he called them to play a vital role for social progress through unity and management of proper funds allotted to them.
President, NDPP Wokha region, John Ezung, general secretary (central women wing NDPP), Grace T Murry, central executive board (CEB) NDPP, Renbi Lotha, village leaders, elders, and others also spoke on the occasion.
The tour programme was accompanied by director, Agri, Benthungo Yanthan, additional secretary, Tribal Affairs, Ncumbemo Lotha, and officials from food and civil supply, forest, land resource, medical, veterinary and animal husbandry, and civil administrative works department (CAWD).
