A day after imposing “indefinite lightning shutdown of shops” in Mon town on Monday in protest against rampant taxation, donation drive, checking of goods etc., the Mon Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) on Tuesday decided to withdraw the shutters down.
According to district authorities, MCCI had agreed to withdraw the shutters down protest after a meeting with several stakeholders at DC’s office on Tuesday.
In a letter to DC Mon, the Mon Chamber of Commerce & Industry had categorically said that on top of businesses being adversely affected by Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, they were unable to conduct business activities due to the “rampant taxation and checking by different individuals, NGOs, over ground and underground” groups.
