In view of the surge in Covid cases in several parts of the country, a meeting for preparedness on omicron wave was held at the office chamber of Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung on January 17.
A press release by District Programme Management Unit NRHM, Mokokchung stated that the meeting was held under the chairmanship of ADC Mokokchung, Shashank Pr.Singh.
During the meeting, joint director DHFW and Nodal Officer for Mokokchung district for Covid, Dr.Tiasunup Pongener highlighted the status of Covid cases in Nagaland.
Stating that there has been increase in Covid cases in few districts of Nagaland in the last few days, Dr. Tiasunup suggested that every positive case should be considered as Omicron until proven otherwise. He observed that the level of preparedness in Mokokchung was satisfactory.
While stressing on managing the check gate, Dr.Tiasunup said that Medical department alone cannot manage due to shortage of human resource. He therefore, called upon other allied departments like administration, police department etc to continue to co-ordinate in checking vaccination cards and testing report.
He said, two doses of vaccination certificate should be made mandatory for travellers entering or going to other districts and that Covid vaccination should also improve.
He also said that in order to shoulder the Covid hospital Mokokchung, Mangkolemba CHC and Changtongya CHC will function as Covid designated hospitals during the Omicron wave.
Involvement of stake holders, private practitioners and private hospitals during Covid pandemic, home isolation, testing strategy, medicines, test kits and consumables and ambulance were also discussed.
It was also decided that the district should strengthen and come up with new initiatives for Advocacy Communication and Social Mobilization (ACSM) in regard to Covid Appropriate Behaviours (CAB) self monitoring, early treatment vaccination etc using Church platforms, radio talk, print and social media etc.
