Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) urges citizens to be onguard against Hindutva forces

Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has once again urged the citizens to remain on their guard against Hindutva forces.
In a press release, NPCC communication department alleged that trying to whitewash the misdeeds of BJP and its elements was nothing new and accused the saffron party of continuing to deny all the actions while the Christians, Muslims and other minorities across the nation were being persecuted.
In many instances, the party said police and other government agencies were utilised while RSS, Bajrang Dal and other elements continued their rampage. It alleged that a pastor was tortured at Amamahua in Uttar Pradesh on April 22 on mere suspicion of forced conversion while he was on a visit to Christian family during which time they sang devotional songs.
Similarly, on July 10, a mob of radical Hindus associated with right-wing organisations like RSS and Bajrang Dal had reportedly disrupted the worship service of a congregation in UP, harassing the Christians and ultimately influencing the police to arrest five of them for forced conversion.
NPCC said these were just two instances while a multitude of incidents went unreported in mainstream media, though these could not be hidden from the world.
The party asked whether these incidents did not demonstrate unequal treatment despite the Constitution of India guaranteeing equality to practice any religion and honour and respect every religion.
Congress questioned Nagaland BJP whether it could deny the ideology of Hindutva and the objective of establishing a Hindu Rashtra and also deny that the draft constitution of Hindu Rashtra proposed that Muslims and Christians would be denied the right to vote. It asked whether this was not contrary to the right to vote guaranteed in the Constitution of India to every citizen who had attained 18 years of age and above regardless of caste, education, religion, race, or ethnicity.
The party said the government had already got every registered citizen’s details, including religious background, accusing of now proposing religious profiling with lesser rights based on religious lines.
“Is this not anti-Christian? Nagas consist of over 95% Christians. Is this not anti-Naga?” the release asked.
NPCC claimed that BJP leaders had also stated that all Indians were Sanatanis, implying worship and belief as in Hinduism. While this was inaccurate, the party said the real danger lay in the gradual insertion of such ideas that were feeding the fire of a Hindu Rashtra and facilitating to submerge Nagaland into the ocean of Hinduism.
The party pointed out that Enforcement Directorate, Central Bureau of Investigation and National Investigation Agency cases against leaders were hanging like a robe to blackmail, which was why 48 legislators were powerless and used as stooges.
While BJP would continue to defend and deny, it urged the citizens to be on their guard against such designs, NPCC reiterated.
