Nagaland: Southern Angami Youth Organisation carries out repair works along NH-2

Taking cognizance of the plight faced by travellers, especially the student community, Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) carried out road repair works along National Highway-2 under its jurisdiction on Monday.
SAYO volunteers led by its president Metekhrielie Mejura carried out soiling and levelling of road damaged by rain and water along the 26 km long stretch from Phesama to Khuzama.
The volunteers were assisted by trucks, excavators and rollers lent by SAYO executives and members.
Addressing the media, Mejura said SAYO took the initiative voluntarily.
Citing experiences of students and office goers getting delayed for classes due to the bad road, Mejura said the issue became a problem that was needed to be addressed.
He opined that the problem should be resolved without criticism by extending support to the company, contractors, NHIDCL and observed that since the stretch of road dated back to World War II, it was significant and should be well maintained.
Mejura said incessant rain this season created more landslides blocking drainages.
He disclosed that SAYO took up the job at strategic levels to surface the uneven road and clear the drainages, helping out in whatever ways possible.
He urged upon the authority to expedite the ongoing construction works saying the organisation was expecting the best quality and completing the work on time.
He assured full support once any developmental work begins and that SAYO was ready to assist in every way.
Meanwhile SDO (Civil), Jakhama, Ruopfükuotuo acknowledged SAYO for the yeoman work and lauded the organisation for expressing their concerns through constructive gesture. He sought participation from SAYO to ensure that all works were carried out without any hindrances.
SDO informed that the DC and RO were doing everything to help the construction companies NHIDCL and Fortune Group to expedite the works.
He said till now, the progress was not satisfactory even as the administration was carrying out inspection from time to time. Further, he informed that authorities were doing everything to see that the works were completed within the stipulated time.
