National Centre for Vector Borne Diseases Control organises ‘anti-malaria month’ in Longleng

No malaria cases in Longleng since 2019’

National Centre for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC) organised and conducted programmes during the “Anti Malaria Month” in Longleng district, on the theme “harness innovation to reduce the malaria disease burden and save lives” from June 14-22.
In a press release, district media officer, K Mongsen Phom informed that the NCVBDC team headed by VDB consultant of the district A Nyumoi Phom sensitised on prevention of malaria and how to make uses of the facilities that were available at their respective CHCs, PHCs and Sub-Centres.
They also gave awareness on how to make proper use of the Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) and informed the public that the treatment for malaria was free of cost.
At the awareness programme, leaflets and posters were distributed to the public.
The team also visited schools and community centres for disseminating awareness, where the community took active participation.
During the activities, the team visited houses in all the 10 villages to check how LLINs were being used.
Along with Malaria Technical Supervisor (MTS), ASHAs and Surveillance Worker (SW), they also visited 10 villages and collected a total number of 282 blood samples.
Since 2019, there have been no malaria cases reported in Longleng district, CMO office informed.
