NDHHC office inaugurated in Noklak district

Deputy commissioner (DC) Noklak, Hiazu Meru inaugurated the Noklak District Handloom and Handicraft Council (NDHHC) office at Punyaongan Sector Noklak Town, Tuesday.
According to a DIPR report, DC said Noklak district has potentials to upsurge in handloom and handicraft sector as the district has many good artisans.
He said that through NDHHC, artisans would get an opportunity to earn their livelihood.
He pointed out that some of the “last traditional Naga practices” such as cotton growing, weaving and traditional products were found in the district.
SP Noklak, Dr. Pritpal Kaur, while encouraging the artisans, said handloom and handicrafts products were in high demand in the market.
She asked the artisans to ensure that finished products were of good quality and to improve with the technology.
Dr. Pritpal advised them to open shops, use social media, etc., and to work hard on handloom and handcraft as it would not only help in generating income but also preserve the culture and tradition.
In his address, Khaimniungan Tribal Council president, M. Thangou said that the district was lacking behind in all aspects and therefore requested the district administration, police, stakeholders, government officials to work hard to uplift the people and to be ambassadors of the district.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by NDHHC president, Khumo while dedicatory prayer was said by Longdon Baptist Church, Noklak Town, Pastor A. Penglang.
