NMC to host North East Riders Meet

The 12th edition of North East Riders Meet (NERM) is all set to be hosted by Nagaland Motorcycle Club (NMC) from December 3 to 5.
This was informed by Finance Convener, NERM 2022, Dr. Beizo Kiso, at a press conference here on Friday at NMC office, Ducan Basti, Dimapur.
It was informed that NERM is an annual event organized by the riding community of Royal Enfield Motorcycle from all North Eastern States, governed by North East Alliance of Riders (NEAR), usually held for three to five days between October to December, on rotation by clubs affiliated to NEAR.
It further added that the main purpose of NERM was to organize a festival to bring Royal Enfield riding fraternity together, and share a time of bonding, however adding that the event promoted tourism to whole of North Eastern states and hosting state in particular.
When asked on how NERM promoted tourism, it was informed that most riders who attends the NERM usually visits the lengths and breaths of the hosting state before or after the meet.
It also added that the 12th edition of NERM to be hosted in the state was expecting around 1500 to 2000 riders from across the NE, adding that this would definitely boost the tourism in the state.
It also stated that NERM would be the single biggest entity that would bring thousands of people to witness Hornbill Festival.
When asked on the location for the riders meet, the finance convener informed that location was not yet finalized, however, assured that it would be either held in Dimapur or Chümoukedima.
Since Hornbill Riders Meet would not be held this year, he expressed hope that NERM could be accommodated into tourism department during the Hornbill Festival for this year.
To a query on whether they are following covid protocols, Central Chief & Convenor NERM, Kevin Naga, informed that all SOPs of the state government would be strictly followed. NMC members stated that only Royal Enfield Riders would be allowed to take part in the NERM. It may be noted that riders from across NE, mainland India, and neighbouring countries such as Nepal, Bhutan, and others attend this rider’s meet.
The 11th edition of NERM that was held at Aizawl, Mizoram, which witnessed more than 1500 participants.
