NQAS knowledge exchange programme at Mongsenyimti

Primary Health Care (PHC) Mongsenyimti, under Mokokchung district, which was awarded the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification under PHC category in the month of July 2022, held an NQAS knowledge exchange programme, organised by Nagaland Health Project (NHP) with participants from Wokha, Longleng, Zunheboto, Tuensang and Mokokchung districts on September 16 at PHC Mongsenyimti.
In a press release, office of the chief medical officer (CMO) Mokokchung stated that deputy director, Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) Kohima, Dr. Thomas Keppen while speaking on “introduction to knowledge exchange on NQAS”, enlightened the participants on the definition of quality and why it was required at a health centre.
He stated that the purpose of knowledge exchange programme was to create opportunities for gross learning and to improve facilities throughout the state.
During a presentation on the journey of PHC Mongsenyimti to NQAS, MO PHC Mongsenyimti, Dr. Maongkala said that the cooperation from staff, CMO, deputy CMO Mokokchung, quality manager, infrastructural development funded by NHP, HCMC and community of Mongsenyimti village paved way towards NQAS certification.
She sensitised the participants on the three key determinants that a facility must possess before pushing forward for certification which included—good infrastructure, community participation and proper documentation.
Dr. Maongkala also added that protocols and procedures should be followed according to the need of the facility.
She said a productive work division was vital among the staff and self-assessment on areas which were of concern.
At the programme, a Q&A session was conducted.
Earlier, CMO Dr. Limatula Aier delivered the opening remarks.
The programme was chaired by NHP, Pukhato Wotsa while vote of thanks was proposed by NHP, Achum Patton.
